Attach these to your demand letter or keep them ready for small-claims court:
- Move-in photos or video walkthrough
- Move-out photos or video walkthrough
- Copy of your lease
- Copy of security deposit receipt or bank statement showing payment
- Copy of any itemized deductions from landlord (if provided)
- Proof of forwarding address (USPS change-of-address confirmation, utility bill at new address)
- Written move-out inspection request (if you sent one)
- Certified mail receipt (proof you sent this demand letter)
Small-claims court quick reference
If your landlord doesn't respond within 14 days, you can file in small-claims court without a lawyer.
